January, Zach Hansen, Men's Volleyball

As a setter for the Men's Volleyball team, Zach Hansen (Shelton, CT), was named the Rivier College Student-Athlete of the Month for his efforts both on the court and in the classroom during the month of January.  Hansen has led the Raiders, currently ranked #5 in Division III volleyball, to an 8-1 start to the 2010 season.  Zach is averaging 12.9 assists per set with a team hitting percentage of .323 on the young season and has 14 blocks to go along with his 37 digs and 8 service aces.  In a win over then #11 Baruch College, Hansen led the Raiders to a .456 hitting percentage for a 3-0 victory against the team that finished the Raiders season last year.  He followed that up with wins over #12 Ramapo College and # 10 Philadelphia Biblical, in which Hansen recorded over 13 assists per set and led the team to hitting percentages of .488 and .333, respectively.  Hansen is a Business Management major at Rivier.
