(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Athletic Department is pleased to announce that senior Kevin Francis (Cromwell, Conn.) and senior Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) have been selected as the University's Student-Athletes of the Month for November 2016.
Francis, one of the captains of the Men's Basketball team, is averaging 13.4 points per game as the team went just 1-4 on the opening month of the season. The 6-5 forward also collected 43 rebounds over the 162 minutes of floor time while being named to the 2016 Rivier University Tip-Off Tournament All-Tournament team.
Butterfield returns to the S-A of the Month as she is off to a stellar start in the young season. A 5-11 forward in her fourth season at the Muldoon recorded her 1,000th career point back on November 22 in the team's win over Daniel Webster College. She finished the evening with 16 points and 18 rebounds against the cross-town foes. Butterfield has averaged a double-double with 15.8 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game. Those are impressive totals but what really shines is the 2.8 blocks per game (14 total) in only five games last month. She totaled 26 points against Salve Regina during the UMass-Dartmouth Tournament, where she was named to the All-Tournament team.
