The GNAC Recognizes Three Raiders This Week
Nashua, NH - For the athletic week that ended on October 24th, the Rivier College Raiders had three different athletes recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Association (GNAC).
Sophomore Jillian Pilotte (Londonderry, NH) was named the GNAC Women's Runner of the Week. Pilotte, a member of the women's soccer team and cross country team, finished 11th overall and first for the Raiders at the Gordon College Invitational Race on Saturday. Her time of 22:34 in the 5K race was less than 2 minutes behind the leader. The race was a duel meet for the Raiders women's team, which means the Raiders also scored in a single meet against Mount Ida College. Pilotte finished 2nd overall against Mount Ida runners, just 33 seconds behind the leader. The Raiders finished 3rd overall at the Gordon Invitational and 2nd against Mount Ida.
Freshman Alec Davis(Amherst, NH) was named the GNAC Men's Runner of the Week. Davis led the Raiders to a 5th place finish at the Gordon Invitational. Alec finished the men's race, which covers a distance of 8 kilometers, with a time of 31:44, good enough for twelfth place overall. This is the fourth race in a row in which Davis had finished first for the Raiders and the second time this season that the freshman has been named the GNAC Runner of the Week.
Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI), a freshman on the Rivier College Women's Volleyball Team, has been named the GNAC Rookie of the Week. Peacock had a great week, leading the Raiders to a 3-1 record including victories over Daniel Webster College, Colby-Sawyer and Vassar. Against DWC, Peacock led the Raiders with 9 kills and only 2 errors for a .500 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win against the cross town rival. Then over the weekend, Nicole had three double digit kill matches to help the Raiders to a 2-1 finish at the Western Connecticut State University Classic. Against Colby-Sawyer College she recorded 10 kills and 3 blocks in a 3-2 win, then led the Raiders again with a season high 18 kills in a 3-2 win against Vassar College. She finished the weekend with a 10 kill performance in a 3-1 loss against host school Western Connecticut. Over the weekend Peacock also set the Rivier College single season record for total blocks. Peacock was tied for the record with 67 blocks heading into the weekend and set a new record with her first block against Colby-Sawyer. After the weekend was over Peacock had recorded 75 total blocks on the season and still has a minimum of 4 matches left to add to her single season total as the Raiders head into the GNAC post season tournament.
