Trio of Raiders Get Recognized


For the week ending September 20, 2009 three Raider student-athletes were recognized by their respective conferences.  Men's soccer player Mike Birecki, field hockey player Lindsay Rettenmeier and cross country runner Maria DeRosa were all named either Player or Rookie of the Week for their respective sports.

Freshman Mike Birecki (Andover, MA)was named GNAC (Great Northeast Athletic Conference) Rookie of the Week as he had the first assist of his college career during the Raiders 3-2 loss against Johnson and Wales.   Birecki sent a centering pass to captain Gustavo Marques who found the back of the net to tie the game at 2 before the Wildcats eventually scored the game winner.

Freshman Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, CT) was named NAC (North Atlantic Concerence) Rookie of the Week as she led the Raiders to their first field hockey win of the season.  Rettenmeier scored the first three goals of the game to get the hat trick in an eventual 4-0 win over Regis College. 

Senior Maria DeRosa (Peabody, MA) <Not Pictured> was named GNAC (Great Northeast Athletic Conference) Runner of the week after posting a 10th place finish at the Daniel Webster College Eagle Invitational on Friday, September 25th.  Maria ran a time of 24:59 over the 5k race and helped the team, to a 4th place finish.
