Three Raiders Named to Basketball All-State Teams
Nashua, NH – The NH NCAA Division III Basketball Coaches Association All-State Teams have been announced and three Raiders players have been awarded the honor. Six New Hampshire Division III schools, Colby-Sawyer College, New England College, Plymouth State University, Keene State College, Daniel Webster College and Rivier College, nominate their top performers for the honor and the six coaches then vote for a first and second team for both men and women athletes.

Tom Poitras Named GNAC ROW for Fourth Time
Nashua, NH – In the final Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards of 2011 for men’s basketball, Rivier’s freshman forward Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) has been named the GNAC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. This is the third time in the last four weeks and the fourth time all season that Poitras has received the GNAC rookie honors.

Nashua, NH – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced their men’s and women’s all-conference teams this week and three Rivier students, all New Hampshire residence, were on the list.

Rookie of the Week Honors Continue for Rivier
Nashua, NH – Rivier College is home to two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie’s of the Week this week as both Tom Poitras (Bow, NH-left) of the men’s basketball team and Aaron Almario (Alhambra, CA-right) of the men’s volleyball team were both awarded the honor in their respective sports.

Raiders Season Ends Despite 55 Point Second Half
New Haven, CT - Junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Career) led a balanced Albertus scoring attack with a game high 26 points and game high 16 rebounds as the Falcons defeated visiting Rivier College 100-82 on Tuesday night.

Raiders Drop Regular Season Finale But Get Playoff Spot
NEWTON, MA- In the final men’s basketball game of the season, the Lasell College Lasers defeated visiting Rivier College, 81-73, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday afternoon. The Lasers overall season records finalizes as 6-19, 5-13 in the GNAC while the Raiders drop to 12-13 overall and 7-11 in the league.

St. Joseph's Handles Rivier With Ease, 78-51
Nashua, NH – St. Joseph’s College of Maine built a 20 point halftime lead and cruised their way to victory, 78-51, in tonight’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s basketball action. The Monks Zach O’Brien scored a game high 20 points and three other Monks players reached double digit points en route to the win. The Monks improve to 17-7 overall and 14-3 in GNAC play while the Raiders fall to 12-12 and 7-10 in conference.

Nashua, NH - Senior guard Nick Bean scored a team high 25 points on the day, but was 0-8 from the 3-point line as the Raiders dropped their second straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) basketball game today, 95-86.

Nashua, NH – Rivier senior guard Nick Bean (E. Longmeadow, MA) scored the 1000th point of his career tonight, but the Norwich University Cadets came away with the 79-67 victory in tonight’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s basketball action.

Second-Half Rally Pushes Raiders Past Saints
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel Men’s Basketball Team dropped a 70-59 decision to the visiting Raiders of Rivier College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) battle played in the Jean Yawkey Center on Tuesday night. With the win, the Raiders improve to 12-9 overall and .500 at 7-7 in the league. Emmanuel fell to 6-16 on the season and 5-10 in the league with the loss.

Raiders Carry Big First Half to 85-77 Win; Poitras Scores 1000
Nashua, NH – The Rivier College Raiders opened the game on a 10-1 run over the first three and a half minutes to set the tone of the game en route to an 85-77 win in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play against Mount Ida College. Rivier senior captain Don Poitras (Bow, NH) needed 12 points in the game to reach 1000 for his career and didn't waste any time, scoring 15 in the first half alone on his way to a 27 point day to lead the Raiders.

Nashua, NH – Junior guard Lamonte Thomas (Providence, RI) ran circles around the Rivier College defense as he led the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University to a 79-63 win in tonight’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s basketball action.

BOSTON, Mass. – It was a tale of two halves as the Emerson College men’s basketball team built a 39-21 halftime advantage then had to rally to win, as the Lions defeated Rivier College 64-61 in Great Northeast Athletic Conferenc e men’s basketball action at Emerson’s Brown & Plofker Gym.

Rivier Uses Monster Second Half to Top Suffolk, 92-75
Boston, Mass. – The Rivier College Raiders (10-7, 5-5 GNAC) used a monster second half to top the Suffolk University Rams (5-12, 3-7 GNAC), 92-75 on Saturday afternoon at the Regan Gymnasium. Rivier outscored Suffolk 54-30 in the final twenty minutes of play after going into the intermission trailing by seven.

Cadets Overcome Conference-Rival Rivier, 75-66
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The long-awaited battle between conference-rivals Norwich and Rivier was finally played in Andrews Hall on Thursday night, with the Cadets overcoming the Raiders, 75-66. This advanced the Norwich to their third GNAC win in as many games, as they now sit 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

Monks Spurn Raiders, 77-57
Standish, ME – Saint Joseph’s (11-5, 8-1 GNAC) defeated Rivier College (9-6, 4-4 GNAC), 77-57, in a conference men’s basketball contest at the Harold Alfond Center on Tuesday night. Zach O’Brien ’12 (Schenectady, NY) netted a game-high 20 points and added four assists and three steals in the SJC victory.

Rivier Men Pull Away Late for 84-73 Victory
Nashua, NH – Rivier College(9-5, 4-3 GNAC) Pulled away late with a 12-6 spurt to make a 66-63 lead into a 78-69 margin with two minutes to go. Rivier led at the half 39-34 with both teams shooting well over 50% from the field.

Nashua, NH - Rivier athletes Jared Andreozzi (Barrington, RI) and Jake Nelson (Nashua, NH) were named the GNAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for their performance in each players respective sport.

Rivier Tops Suffolk, 72-58
Nashua, NH – Rivier rebounded from a 38 point loss over the weekend to move to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in GNAC play by defeating the Rams of Suffolk University 72-58 today in men’s basketball action. The Raiders played aggressive basketball all day, driving the lane and getting to the foul line 26 times, converting on 19 free throw shots to help pull away from the Rams. The Rams on the other hand only made it to the free throw line 5 times all game, making just 1 free throw shot.

Askew Leads Falcons Over Rivier 96-58
New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Basketball team cruised to a 96-58 win over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Rivier College behind a balanced scoring effort that saw five Falcons score in double figures. Junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Career) led the Falcons with a game high 23 points and a game high 10 rebounds in just 25 minutes.

Emmanuel Scraps Their Way to a Road Victory Over Rivier, 73-68
Nashua, NH – A depleted Emmanuel squad entered the Muldoon Fitness Center in Nashua, NH with just 8 players dressed to play in the game and came away with a hard fought 73-68 victory over the Rivier College Raiders. Rivier was out shot from all areas of the floor as the home team couldn’t find the bottom of the basket or get any type of offensive rhythm going all night.

Bean Drains Last Second 3-Pointer for Raider Victory
Newton, Massachusetts – With seven seconds remaining in the contest, Mount Ida College men's basketball junior captain Isiah Benjamin (Windsor, CT/The Masters School) drained two pressure free throws tying the score at 75-75. But with one second remaining, visiting Rivier College senior Nick Bean (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) buried a trifecta handing the Mustangs a 78-75 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss Tuesday evening in Newton, Massachusetts.

Newcomer Nelson Steals The Show For Raiders Win
Nashua, NH – Rivier freshman and Nashua, NH native Jake Nelson, who just transferred in to Rivier during the semester break, stole the ball off an inbound play with just 10 seconds remaining in a 61-61 tie game to give the Raiders their first GNAC victory of the season. Nelson drove for the lay-up and was fouled with just under 8 seconds to go and made both free throws to give the Raiders a 63-61 advantage and the eventual win.

Johnson & Wales Men’s Basketball Knocks Off Rivier, 88-66
Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University men’s basketball team posted an 88-66 victory against Rivier in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Harborside Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats had five players in double figures in the win.

Rivier College Men Win Colby Invitational, 56-41
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's (4-3, 0-0 NESCAC) Mike Russell (Wellesley, Mass.) and Christian Van Loenen (Falmouth, Maine) both made the all-tournament team, but Rivier College's (4-1, 0-0 GNAC) Nick Bean (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) went 6-for-12 from 3-point range and finished with 22 points and seven rebounds in a 56-41 win over the Mules in the title game of the Colby College Men's Basketball Invitational on Sunday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Don Poitras (Bow, NH) had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists to lead the Rivier College men’s basketball team to a 71-67 win over Framingham State on Saturday in the opening round of the Colby College Invitational at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

CONCORD, N.H. 11/15/10 - The new-look Keene State College men’s basketball team opened its season with a 73-67 win over Rivier College in the first of two games at the Jacob’s Bridge Through Autism Tournament at NHTI in Concord on Monday night.

Rivier College looks to rebound from a tough 9-17 season with virtually the entire team intact this year. Last season saw Rivier lose 6 games on the last possession or in overtime and hopes that experience along with a talented freshmen class can lead them back to the top of the GNAC once again.
