RIVIER WINS FIRST GNAC MATCH

Providence, RI-No-6 Rivier College (1-0 GNAC; 3-0 overall) defeated Johnson & Wales University 3-0 to win their first GNAC match of the year.  The Raiders freshmen and sophomore class paced the Blue and Gray for the win against the Wildcats. 

Sophomores Tajh Stokes (Salem, NH) and Andrew Paine (Quincy, MA) led the offense with 6 kills apiece while Freshmen Taylor Lindner (Cheshire, CT), Francis Dallatore (Wilmington, DE), and Josh Baker (N. Kingstown, RI) chipped in with 5, 4, and 3 kills respectively.  Freshman setter Jamison Chue (Newton, MA) dished out 15 assists and led the Raider defense with 8 digs.  Paine followed Chue on defense with 6 digs while Lindner put back a team high 3 blocks.  Juniors Steve Wood (Spencerport, NY) played a solid all around game as libero and junior John Furka (Massapequa, NY) tallied 2 kills and 2 digs to help the Raiders. 

Rivier will travel to Mahwah New Jersey on Friday 1/22 and 1/23 for a quad match at Ramapo College.  On Friday 1/22 Rivier will challenge host No-12 Ramapo College at 8:00pm.  On Saturday 1/23 Rivier will take on No-11 Philadelphia Biblical College at 11:00am and Division I Sacred Heart University at 3:00pm.
