FERREIRA NAMED GNAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Matt Ferreira (Lincoln, RI), a 6'6 senior middle hitter for Rivier College has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in guiding Rivier to a 4-1 week.  Ferreira began the week with 5 kills while seeing limited time in a 3-0 sweep of Mount Ida College.  In his next match, a 3-1 win over New Jersey City University Ferreira smashed 14 kills and added 3 blocks and 2 digs.  He continued his hot play with a .429 hitting percentage on 6 for 14 hitting with 3 blocks in a 3 set sweep against then #13 SUNY New Paltz.  In the Raiders only loss of the week, Ferreira tallied 11 kills and a .375 hitting percentage against Endicott College.  The Raiders co-captain concluded the week with an 8 block, 7 kill, and .500 hitting percentage performance in a 3-0 win over MIT.  For the week, Ferreira averaged 3.07 kills, 1.21 blocks, and 3.75 points per game while hitting for a .494 percentage.
