RAIDERS MAKE IT 8 STRAIGHT

Nashua, NH - Rivier College (3-0 GNAC; 8-0 overall) defeated a pair of GNAC opponents to remain undefeated in conference play.  Rivier defeated both Emerson College and Mount Ida College in three straight sets to improve to 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in GNAC play. 

In the first match of the evening, the Raiders swept the Emerson Lions to win their second GNAC match of the season.  Sophomores Alex Xenidis and Andrew Paine led the Raider offense with 11 kills respectively.  Classmate Tajh Stokes was close behind tallying 10 kills from the middle while stuffing a team high 4 blocks and second year libero Chris Convertito scooped up a team high 10 digs.  First year players Jamison Chue, Josh Baker, and Francis Dallatore held their own as well.  Chue directed the offense to a .376 hitting percentage while dishing out 34 assists and chipping in with 3 blocks.  Baker put down 6 kills and put back 4 blocks while Dallatore registered 5 kills and 8 digs.  Junior Steve Wood showed good ball control in 2 sets.

In the second match of the double header it was much of the same for the Raiders.  Setter Jamison Chue quarterbacked the Raiders offense to a tidy .387 hitting percentage while dishing out 29 assists.  The 5'8 first year player from Newton Massachusetts also scored a team high 5 service aces along with 2 blocks.  Middle hitter Tajh Stokes led all hitters with 11 kills and was solid on the block with 3 put backs.  Outside hitter Andrew Paine narrowly missed a double double with 10 kills and 9 digs while first year opposite hitter Josh Baker bombed in 7 kills on 12 attempts with no errors for a .583 hitting percentage. Defensive specialists Steve Wood and Chris Convertito controlled the receive with solid passing and combined for 18 digs while offensively Francis Dallatore and Taylor Lindner combined for 7 kills.
