Men's Cross Country: Raiders compete at the 45th annual UMass Dartmouth Invite

(Dartmouth, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Cross Country team placed 39th out of 40 universities that participated in the 45th Annual UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational. On the women's side, two Raiders ran for top-200 finishes out of the 300-plus participants.

Men: 39th of 40 teams (1234 points)
Women: 35th of 40 teams (1079 points)

Out of the 300-plus runners that took part in the 8K run, Sophomore Yash Jagtop (North Andover, Mass.) finished inside the top 225 as he crossed the line at 31:52.

As for the women's 5K race, in which the Raiders placed 35th overall as a team, Anna Pearsons (Kingston, Mass.) came in at a time of 21:46. Junior Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.) completed the event less than 30 seconds after her teammate, tallying a time of 22:14.

Sophomore Kirk Palladino (Milford, N.H.) was the first of four consecutive Raiders to cross the line as he checked in with a time of 44:11. Freshman Tarik Rivers (Stamford, Conn.) and Ryan Banuskevich (Milford, N.H.) crossed right behind Palladino at 44:12 and 44:14, respectively. Freshman Sam Rines (Turner, Maine) rounded out the five-man team finishing the race at 46:24.

Freshman Lauren Ferentino (Hudson, N.H.), senior Alyssa Brown (Manchester, N.H.) and freshman Ameila Bassett (Derry, N.H.) registered 272nd, 277th and 278th place finishes, respectively. During the 5K, the team posted an average time of 26:29.

The men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Hamilton, Mass. to take part in the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College, scheduled to begin at 10:45am on Saturday, Sept. 23.
