Raider Fill Up GNAC Weekly Awards

Nashua, NH – A total of 7 Rivier College athletes, in 3 different sports, were named to the GNAC weekly awards for the week ending March 21, 2010. 

Taylor Cournoyer (Mansfield, MA), a freshman, was named GNAC Softball Rookie of the Week.  Cournoyer helped the Raiders to a 4-0 week while playing flawless defense at the shortstop position.  She recorded 7 put outs and 7 assists on defense while ranging both left and right to make tough plays look easy.  At the plate, Taylor went 7 for 13 for a .538 batting average.  She scored 4 runs and drove in 6 RBI’s while slugging .923 with 1 home run and 1 triple over the 4 game span.

 

 

 


Monica White (Augusta, ME) was named GNAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.  Monica threw 3 complete games, boasting a 0.00 ERA in 20+ innings.  White gave up just 7 hits during the span while striking out 27 batters.  She also hit .400 at the plate, going 6 for 15 while driving in 3 RBI’s and scoring 2 runs to help her own cause.

 

 

 

 


Zach Hanson (Shelton, CT) was named men’s volleyball GNAC Player of the Week.  Zach averaged 12.8 assists per game for the Raiders, leading the team to a 3-1 win over Division I Harvard University.  Although the Raiders only went 1-2 on the week, Hansen played great, leading the team in assists, service aces and digs. 

 

 

 

 


Taylor Lindner (Cheshire, CT) was named men’s volleyball GNAC Rookie of the Week.  In the 3 match week, Taylor registered 23 kills and a .308 hitting percentage along with 9 total blocks.  Against Harvard, Lindner tallied 10 kills with only 3 hitting errors for a .350 hitting percentage. 

 

 

 

 

 


Three additional players were also awarded GNAC Honor Roll mention.  Amanda Ryan (W. Bridgewater, MA), a junior on the softball team, batted .538 during the 4 game span, including 1 triple and 2 homeruns while also playing both 1st and 2nd base in the field with zero errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage with getting 13 putouts and 4 more assists.  Freshman Artie Hoffman (Medford, MA) and Senior Chris Hunt (Lisbon, NH), both members of the Rivier Baseball team, also got Honor Roll mention as Rivier picked up their first win since April of 2008.  The Raiders split a double header with Mass Maritime Academy and took game 2 with a 7-6 win.  Hoffman picked up the victory on the mound while Hunt drove in 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with a single to left field to cap off a 5 run comeback victory for the Raiders.
