Rivier Falls in First Round of ECAC Tourney
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Senior Amber Zablowsky (Rochester, Mass.) allowed eight hits and walked none while striking out four, guiding the third-seeded University of New England Nor'easters to a 5-0 win over No. 6 Rivier College in first round action of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Softball Championship, played Wednesday afternoon at Claude Dubois Field.

Rivier selected for 2011 ECAC Division III New England Softball Championship
CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Rivier College has been selected as the #6 seed in the regional ECAC Division III New England Softball Championship after posting a 26-14 record during the regular season and finishing as the GNAC runner up in the conference tournament. The Raiders will travel to the University of New England for the opening round action on Wednesday, May 11th at 4:00 pm.

Rivier Places Four on Softball All-Conference Team
Nashua, NH – One season after winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, the Rivier College Raiders were right back in the championship game yesterday trying to pull off the repeat. The fifth seeded Raiders fell just short, falling 5-4 to #2 St. Joseph’s College of Maine, but the teams overall success was awarded today as four different Raiders were named to the GNAC All-Conference Team.

WENHAM, Mass. – Second seeded St. Joseph's College rallied from a 4-0 sixth inning deficit with five unearned runs to defeat fifth seed Rivier College and take the championship of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Tournament hosted by Emerson College at Gordon College.

Raiders Hold Off Late Inning Rally to Advance to GNAC Championship
WENHAM, Mass.- The fifth seeded Rivier College Raiders were able to hold off a late inning rally to advance to today's Great Northeast Athletic Conference softball championship, upsetting the fourth seed St. Joseph's College Blue Jays 5-4. The Raiders will play the St. Joseph's College of Maine Monks at 1pm, while the Blue Jays season concludes with a record of 22-18.

Rivier Downs Pine Manor 4-2 to Extend Playoff Run
Nashua, NH – Rivier College scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning today against Pine Manor College to win in the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball tournament 4-2. The Raiders improve to 23-12 on the season and will move on to play against St. Joseph's College of Connecticut on Friday at Gordon College, where top seeded Emerson College will be awaiting the winner. Pine Manor finishes their season with a record of 10-22 overall and 10-14 in GNAC play.

Rivier Two Steps Closer To GNAC Playoffs
Newton, Massachusetts) - In the final home twin bill of the 2011 season, the Mount Ida College softball team dropped both ends of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header against visiting Rivier College Monday afternoon in Newton, Massachusetts. The Mustangs fell in game one due to two error ridden innings compiling eight for the contest falling in a 9-0 shutout. Game two was very close the entire way with Mount Ida losing 5-4. The Mustangs have two games left and will be played tomorrow at GNAC rival Lasell College starting at 3:00 p.m.

Rivier Splits Double Header With JWU
Nashua, NH – Rivier College and Johnson & Wales University each took a game in today's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball double header. The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales took the first game 11-5 while the Raiders came through in game two, 3-1. The split moves Rivier to 17-9 overall and 9-7 in GNAC play while the Wildcats get to 14-17 overall and 9-9 in the GNAC.

Nashua, NH – Rivier College had a huge come from behind victory in game two of today's GNAC double header against Pine Manor College to sweep the Gators with an 8-2 win in game one and a 15-14 win in game 2. The wins improves Rivier to 8-6 in GNAC play while the two losses drop Pine Manor to 8-10 in the GNAC.

Nashua, NH – A seventh inning grand slam by Lasell's Marissa McHugh (Plymouth, MA) powered the Laser past Rivier College in game one of today's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header 8-7, but the Raiders battled back to take game two 5-2 on the back of pitcher Lauren Beatty (Sherman, CT) to split the double header.

Rivier Swept by St. Joseph's of Maine in GNAC Double Header
STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College (16-6, 7-3 GNAC) swept Rivier College (12-6, 4-4 GNAC) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader at the newly-dedicated Richard W. Bailey Field on Saturday afternoon. The Monks defeated the Raiders, 5-4, in eight innings in the opener and capped the sweep with a 6-2 triumph in the nightcap.

Nashua, NH – In a battle of intercity rivals, Rivier College came out on top on both ends of a softball double header tonight against Daniel Webster College. Freshman outfielder Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) had a big night, going 6 for 7 at the plate with 2 doubles and 2 triples to lead the Raiders with 6 RBIs as the home team came from behind in game one to pull out a victory 7-6 and made a statement in game two by exploding for 11 runs to win the nightcap 11-1.

Rivier and Norwich Split a Pair in Women’s Softball
Nashua, NH – Rivier College and Norwich University split a pair of softball games tonight in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header played in Nashua, NH. The games, originally scheduled for Sunday, were moved to tonight in order to beat the incoming snow since everyone in New England knows how unpredictable each days weather could be. Norwich picked up 12 hits in the opening game and took away a 9-4 win while Rivier smashed 4 homeruns in the nightcap to take game two 10-2.

Saints Split With Rivier In GNAC/Home Opener
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Softball Team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to top Rivier College, 10-9, in the first game of Sunday's home opening double-header at Roberto Clemente Field. The Raiders stormed back to take the nightcap, 9-0, winning in five innings. With the split, the Saints are now 4-7 on the season and 1-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, while the Raiders stand at 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the league.

Orlando, FL - The Rivier College softball team enjoyed their spring break at Disney World in Orlando, FL competing in their first competitions of the 2011 season as they get set to defend the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title that they won in 2010. The Raiders started off to a great start going 4-2 on the week and getting the 9 freshman on the team accustomed to playing at the next level.

Rivier College 2011 Softball Preview
The 2010 Rivier College Softball season was a special one. The team won their 2nd GNAC Championship in three years and won another game in the NCAA Tournament. They also won a school record 33 games. Enter 2011…..A new head coach, new assistant coach (Mike Holloran), 6 returning players and 9 freshmen. Sounds like a rebuilding year…. but is it?

Morissette Named Rivier Women's Softball Head Coach
Nashua, NH – Rivier College has announced Men’s Basketball Head Coach Dave Morissette will also assume the responsibilities of the Women’s Softball program. Morissette, who had previously coached the softball team for three seasons (2000 – 2002) once again takes the reins after former coach Kelly O’Connell stepped down following a GNAC Championship and a NCAA appearance in the 2010 season.
