(Winthrop, Mass.) Yesterday afternoon the Great Northeast Athletic Conference unveiled their 2015 Softball All-Conference Teams and four Rivier University Raiders were selected after their stellar seasons. The team finished the year at 14-20 and an 5-17 conference record which saw them just miss out on returning to the Conference Tournament.
Junior Lia Bobek (Hollis, N.H.) was selected to the All-Conference Second team after leading the Raiders with a .433 average. She went 29-for-67 at the plate this past season with four doubles and four triples. The 4-11 outfielder also knocked in 10 RBI and was 15-for-15 in stolen bases as she earned her first All-Conference selection in her career.
Sophomore Shaylyn Freitas (Pelham, N.H.) earned a Third team All-Conference selection as she led the Raiders in home runs and started 32 of the team's 34 games. Freitas belted four homers and drove in 25 RBI – both team highs – while accumulating a .485 slugging percentage.
Freitas was joined on the All-Conference Third team by freshman Tori Dugan (Norwalk, Conn.). Dugan started in 33 games in her rookie campaign and stole 32-of-35 bases as the primary leadoff hitter. The 32 swipes are the most ever by a freshman in program history. Dugan hit .374 (40-for-107) with a HR and 19 RBI.
Junior Kathryn Mostone (Pelham, N.H.) was the Rivier representative on the All-Sportsmanship team in 2015, her second consecutive selection.
