Trio of Raiders Receive GNAC Weekly Honors

Nashua, NH – Three members of Rivier College received Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Honors for the week ending April 4, 2010. Lauren Brett (above left) and Katie Bachinski (above right) were named Rookie of the week in their respective sports, while Monica White (center) was named pitcher of the week in softball.

Lauren Brett (Otisfield, ME), a freshman on the first year lacrosse team, was named GNAC Rookie of the Week after helping to lead the Raiders to the first win in program history. Brett scored 5 goals and added 3 assists in the Raiders 18-6 victory over conference opponent St. Joseph College of Connecticut. In three games on the week, Lauren scored 13 goals and helped on 4 others with 4 assists. Lauren also takes a majority of the face-offs for the Raiders, and currently holds a .684 winning percentage on all face-offs taken.

Katie Bachinski (Northfield, MA) is a freshman on the softball team at Rivier. During the week, Bachinski hit .538, going 7 for 13 with 2 doubles, 1 triple and 2 homeruns. Katie drove in 6 RBI's while also scoring 6 runs of her own, keeping the Raiders atop the GNAC standings. The Raiders are currently 12-0 in conference and 18-1 overall. Bachinski, who spends time catching, playing third base and roaming the outfield, had a 1.000% fielding percentage on the week in 4 games played.

Monica White (Augusta, ME) is the GNAC Pitcher of the week for the third time this season. White, a senior captain for the Rivier softball team, posted a 3-0 record on the mound with a 0.00 ERA. In 18 innings pitched, Monica struck out 28 batters while giving up just 6 hits and 0 walks. The wins moved Whites overall record to 13-0 on the season with a 0.33 ERA and 144 strikeouts in 86 innings pitched.
