(West Hartford, CT) Against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe University of Saint Joseph, the Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team won by a score of 18-4 in convincing fashion.
Although Saint Joseph got on the board first just 83 seconds into the game, the Rivier offense was too much for the Blue Jays to handle. After Dayna Gambino scored the Blue Jays first and only goal of the first half the Raiders rattled off nine straight goals to take a commanding lead into half time. The second half was much of same as Rivier put another nine spot on the scoreboard while Saint Joseph was struggling to find offense.
Leading the way with eight points for the Raiders was freshman Elena Reilly (Braintree, MA) who tallied five goals and three assists in the victory. Junior Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) netted four goals for Rivier and displayed her efforts by scooping a team high seven ground balls. Sophomore Savannah Neuwirt ( ) aided attackers on four goals and score two of her own. Freshman goalkeeper Danielle Moran (San Diego, CA) posted a .733 save percentage allowing only four of the 15 shots on net to pass.
The victory improves the Raiders overall record to 6-3 and 3-2 in the GNAC. Saint Joseph falls to 2-7 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
