Quartet of Women's Volleyball Team Members Receive GNAC Honors
Nashua, NH - After another 20+ win season, 4 Raiders received GNAC honors at the conclusion of the women's volleyball season.
Freshman outside hitter Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH)was named to the GNAC All-Conference 1st Team as well as the GNAC Rookie of the Year. Kenna was the only freshman on the 1st team and was well deserving of the honor as she led the Raiders in total kills (367), service aces (64), kills per set (3.37) and was third in hitting percentage with a .255. In conference games, Kenna led the GNAC with 3.62 kills per set and is the first Raider freshman ever to receive first team GNAC honors. Finlayson is the second Raider to receive GNAC Rookie of the Year honors, the first being Laura Ciummo (Burrillville, RI - '09) in 2005.
Danielle Stoodley (Salem, NH) took home GNAC All-Conference 2nd Team honors. The sophomore libero/defensive specialist led the Raiders with 441 digs on the season, was second on the team with 52 service aces and led the team in serve receive attempts with 531, passing at a .904 clip.
Junior Nicole Rodriguez (Newton, MA) made the GNAC All-Conference 3rd Team after an injury plagued off season forced her numbers down since last year's GNAC second team appearance. Even with the injuries she was able to lead the Raiders in hitting percentage (.280) and was third in total kills with 197. Rodriguez led the team in total blocks with 34 and added 6 service aces despite limited opportunities.
Sophomore Lauren Saccoccio (Warwick, RI)rounded off the conference honors by being named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Lauren was selected by her teammates to represent Rivier on this team because of her contributions to the team as well as her attitude both on and off the court. Saccoccio moved from outside hitter to setter and worked hard all season to become the best she could be. She led the Raiders with 593 assists and added 40 service aces and 185 digs to help the Raiders during the season.
