RIVIER OUTFIGHTS UMD - Finlayson Sets Match Kill Record

Rivier College (18-12 overall) won a hard fought 5 set match against University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Thursday night. First year player Kenna Finlayson proved close to unstoppable for RIV dropping 30 kills against UMD to set a single match kill record for the Raiders. The 5'9 outside hitter moved her 45 strikes around efficiently making just 2 errors for a .622 hitting percentage. She also came up big with 2 blocks in the fifth set alone and picked up 8 digs and 2 service aces on the match. Sophomore libero Danielle Stoodley scooped up 23 digs and served a team 26 attempts with 2 aces to spark the Raiders. Setter Lauren Saccoccio tallied a double double with 34 assists and 14 digs while classmate Emileigh Cenedella was solid with 15 digs and 8 kills. Middle hitters Nicole Rodriguez and Lindsay Chace combined for 16 kills and 5 blocks while opposite hitter Danielle Jacques scored 13 kills. Senior Becky Gautreau played great in the end and picked up 7 digs on the match while Caitie Callahan dished out 23 assists.

Rivier will travel to Lasell College for to important GNAC matches on Saturday 10/31. Rivier will play Lasell College at 10:00 am followed by Suffolk University at noon.
